Since 1987 a slim white needle has pointed upwards into the white-blue North German sky. The landmark on the Baltic Sea coast stands 100m tall, and blowing in the wind on its top is a giant flag of the Federal State of Schleswig-Holstein measuring an unbelievable 30 square metres in size. The viewing gallery with floor-to-ceiling windows, that looks as if it comes straight from the future, goes upward with rotating movements allowing guests a fantastic view of the overwhelmingly beautiful landscape of the Holstein lake district, beyond the Lübeck Bay all the way to Mecklenburg – an old world re-discovered from a new perspective.
