Stockholm

Stockholm became a member of the city alliance in the mid 14th century. During the Hanseatic League times it was Sweden’s most important port for exports of, for instance, copper and iron. Soap and jewellery were imported through the port.

“Schantzska huset“ (Stortorget 20)

The original building in Stockholm was constructed by the royal secretary Johan Eberhard Schantz in 1650. The gable of the house was designed in the style of the nordic renaissance.

“Town Hall of Stockholm“ (Hantverkargatan 1)

In 1908 the city council of Stockholm decided to have a Town Hall built on the ground of the former fire department.  Ragnar Östberg, who was inspired by the Venetian and North-Gothic architecture, was comissioned with the project.
