Visby
Sweden‘s Visby is a city located on the west coast of the Baltic Sea island of Gotland. For a long time Visby was the League’s Baltic Sea trade hub with a major connection to Lübeck.
Florence Visby (Skeppsbron 20)
In the 18th century the customs officer Gustaf Camitz built this house and sold it in 1838. The new owner opened a restaurant in the building, which is still in business.

City Wall
The city wall is Visby’s landmark. It was built in the middle of the 13th century and stretches over 3.5 kilometres. The 11-metre-high wall served to protect the merchants in the city from the rural population that was opposed to the strict trade rules of the Hanseatic League. Today 22 “saddle” towers (small towers on the wall) and 27 of the originally 29 large towers of the city wall are intact.

Old Pharmacy (Strandgatan 28)
The medieval stone building was erected in the 13th century and housed a pharmacy until 1897. Today it is the oldest lived-in building in Sweden.
